Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has learned to surf, taken up jiu-jitsu, and is now reportedly in the process of adding a new hobby — flying.
The Facebook co-founder and tech baron who has a net worth valued by Bloomberg Billionaires Index at around $113 billion has obtained a student pilot certificate, according to the tech-centric news site The Information.
Zuckerberg successfully applied for the student certificate with the Federal Aviation Administration, the outlet reported.
Should the Meta boss ace his test to get a pilot’s license, he would join other high-flying tech aviators including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel and potential “cage match” foe Elon Musk.
Last week, Zuckerberg posted an image on his own photo-sharing platform, Instagram, showing his bare-chested, muscular physique while posing alongside mixed martial arts fighters Israel Adesanya and Alex Volkanovski.
Zuckerberg, who took up martial arts during the COVID pandemic, has been training with the UFC pros in preparation for a potential tussle with Musk.
Their rivalry has heated up in recent weeks, particularly after Zuckerberg released his “Twitter killer” app, Threads.
Musk, who acquired Twitter last year for $44 billion, has accused Zuckerberg’s company of stealing trade secrets that were used to develop Threads.
Meta has denied the claims.
Zuckerberg’s desire to conquer the skies comes after his admitted love for trying to tame the seas.
Last year, Zuckerberg told podcaster Tim Ferriss that he enjoys surfing every morning before work as a means of coping with getting “punched” by bad news.
“When you’re out there in the water, it’s pretty hard to focus on anything else,” Zuckerberg said.
“When you’re on the board, you’re focused on making sure you stay on the board and don’t mess something up.”
